Cielo’s Room

June 1, 2014

So I have to admit, preparing for Cielo’s arrival was not at all fun for me. There were so many little teensy tiny decisions to make and they all seemed important! Disposable diapers or cloth? Co-sleeper or bassinet? Finding the right monitor, breast pump, baby wash…heck, even what diaper bag I needed was overwhelming for me. It was so bad that I had an anxiety attack at Babies R Us one afternoon!! …okay, it wasn’t a real anxiety attack but I was so overwhelmed with how much stuff we needed and how to choose it all, that I literally broke down crying (pregnancy hormones are real people!). But when it came to designing Cielo’s room, I had no anxiety. I knew exactly what I wanted: a modern, pieced together feel that wasn’t too girly, with only a smidge of “baby”. We still have a few missing details but below are some pictures of Cielo’s nursery if you’d like to see.

p.s. She turned 10 weeks old on Friday…time really does just fly right by!

Crib: All Modern Furniture | Sheets: Land of Nod | Hello Pillow: Hello Apparel | National Parks Pillow: The Bocket Store via Society Six | Baskets: Target | Owl Lamp: Hatch NYC for Target from a few years back (similar here) | Dresser: Craigslist find that we painted and added Anthropologie knobs to | Rocking Chair: Overstock | Sheepskin on chair: Lulu & Georgia | Sheepskin floor rug: vintage hand-me-down from Evan’s Parents. It came all the way from New Zealand! | Be happy, be bright, be you print: Sugar Paper LA | Like forever poster: Super Rural | Floor pouf: CB2 | Heart pillow: handmade | Branch clothes rack: handmade | Wall decals: Walls by MUR | Wine box shelves: we’ve been collection wine boxes for years and have always talked about turing them into shelves. Glad we finally did. | Gallery wall: a mix of handmade screen prints by Evan and me, Maptote tote turned wall hanging and a few random postcards and prints we’ve picked up along the way.

this is stunning! I love that its not too baby like and you won’t need to change her style too often. it also makes it enjoyable for you to be in too! Hope you’re feeling rested and settling into your new lifestyle.

Exactly Amy! We wanted to create a room she’d be able to grow with. Life is definitely better today than it was a month ago, so I hope this progress continues! Thank you for asking!

We have the same crib and sheets! I have to get that pouf :). If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend this:

It will help you to not panic in those moments when you feel like breaking down.

So sweet! Gorgeous baby. I love the sayings on the wall ( just so you know I still remember the pictures on the wall in my baby/childhood room, so she will remember too) and the rocking chair. So peaceful in that room too. Well done
